We have never thrown a birthday party for my children where we invited their friends.  We usually moved before we could do that.  This year we had our very first friends party for a birthday.  And, for once, Honey got to do something first before any of her siblings.

We had 15 adults and 28 children including our own family.  I had closed off the playroom because I just could not bear the thought of having to pick up all those toys once the party ended.  Our friends always help clean up but it takes weeks for things to get back to normal and we had just finished organizing the playroom this week.  I know some of the children were disappointed, but there were plenty of toys in the girls’ room and in Brother’s room.  I also borrowed a nice pool from a friend and put out a couple of sprinklers for the kids.  Half the children played outside, but the weather was not very hot so they were chilled pretty quickly.

Lunch was frozen Tombstone pizza which is, apparently, a great favorite among this set.  We had seven pizzas and one slice was left by the end of the party.  I had also baked a couple of thin California Pizza Kitchen pizzas as well.  The adults enjoyed these.  The cake was a 1/2 sheet of chocolate and white (although this chocoholic has absolutely no idea why kids would even ask for the white).

Honey doesn’t like to be the center of attention so Daddy had to be there for her (I was behind the camera).

Here are some more photos of the kids who were in attendance and devouring the pizza.

Here’s Honey with her friend.  They were so cute together.

A couple of the boys are pictured here.  The boys are outnumbered 2 to 1 in our homeschool group, but for the most part there are boys of similar ages like these two.

All in all it was a great party.  By limiting the children to the backyard and the two bedrooms, clean up was easier.  We get to party again next week, but this time someone else will be hosting the party.  I guess it’s birthday season.

Looks like fun! Don’t you love when you manage to get the exact right amount of food (without waste!)–great job!
I agree with you about the toys too!
