• In the midst of relaxing and having fun, let's not forget all who gave their lives for this great country of ours.   These husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and friends.

I will especially be praying for Major David G. Taylor and Major Edward Murphy and their families.  I miss you.

The cardinal dance was just lovely.  It was fast paced and with their bright costumes, it was a sight to behold.

    A job well done.

I’m so glad the ballet school performs a full ballet.  It makes watching the recital that much better.

  • I'm such a bad mom.

I can usually go, go, go for weeks on end.  However, once in a while, I have a day where I have to pretty much sleep all day.  I need to recharge my batteries.  There's no telling when a day like that will come.  Well, today was one of those days.

    And, today, is Ascension Thursday.

    And, I forgot.

    Until now.

I didn't do a single thing with them.  I didn't even talk to them about Ascension Thursday.  It's not a holy day of obligation so it was not foremost in my mind.  I had been reminding myself of it all week.

    I'm such a bad mom.

  • Emily had not so great news yesterday from the cardiologists.  We are still praying for a miracle.

Honey had her appointment today.  It was kind of a clerical error but I'm glad we went.  At her last appointment, the EKG machine was not functioning; today it was.  All is the same.

My dad came out of his surgery very well.  He was a bit groggy but he seems better today.

Here's a picture I'm sharing with you.  It's a dahlia from my mother's garden.  She has beautiful flowers.

    Dahlia

  • Please pray for Emily and John as they travel to San Antonio to visit with specialists for baby Matthew Karol.  Jess is watching her children with her mom.  Sue took the early morning shift as the appointment is about 2 1/2 hours away.

Also, my dad is having a procedure this morning to help clear away an persistent sinus infection.

Honey has a cardiology appointment tomorrow afternoon.  It came as a surprise that she needed one because the last time we went, the doctor told us to come back in 3 years.  Apparently, it was noted that she needed a followup this month and an appointment had come available with the pediatric cardiologist.  I'm hoping it's some sort of a clerical error.  I'm worried about it because it's such a surprise that we needed to go back.  I'm also ticked off irritated that we get the pediatric cardiologist only once a month so that we have to take the appointment (they called me yesterday).

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

  • Where has the time gone?  Happy Birthday to my sweet Pumpkin.  Time sure has flown (sob).

Post-cupcake scowl.  She was posing for me.  We all thought she looked like a gangster, not to be confused with a gansta.

  • Ben is leaving in somewhere in the month of November for Afghanistan.  So, I'm in a bit of a panic.  He's my playroom clean-up-er.  So, I've been wanting to purge and actually did start purging, but I've been stuck for a while now.  I'm paralyzed by the idea of so much stuff to purge.  I'm paralyzed by having to organize it all.  I need to make our things simpler so our lives can be a bit simpler.  I want the children to have less toys so they can stop being overwhelmed by all the stuff (the apples do not fall far from the tree).  I'm also a pack rat.  Sigh.

ETA:  I forgot.  I'm selling all our purged items from toys to baby clothes to baby stuff.

  • Really, where did April go?  This week has been busy.  We've had therapy, school work, ballet, rock climbing class, piano.  Whew!  No wonder I'm tired.  Also, on Tuesday, my dear friend babysat the children so Ben and I could go out to dinner for my birthday.  This is the first time in about 6 years since we've done this.  It was nice.  Although, I thought it was ironic that the hostess placed us right next to a table with kids.

On Wednesday, we started a book study of Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle's book, The Domestic Church:  Room by Room, A Mother's Study Guide.  It's a great book.  It's quick and easy, but there's a lot there.  We are trying to finish the study in 5 weeks so that one of our group can lead participate before she moves to Kansas.  The first chapter is titled "The Foyer" which basically is about finding Jesus through Mary (motherhood).

Our therapy times have changed due to Brother's regular OT being on maternity leave (please come back soon, Liz).  So, we end up going 3 times a week instead of 2 as his temp OT only works 3 days a week and Mondays are not one of them.  I have a hard time during our Tuesday trips to OT.  The moms in the waiting room are not very good about keeping their topics tame.  They also don't dress very modestly.  I'm not trying to judge; really, I'm not.  However, let me just say a couple of things.  If you have to keep putting your self back in, your shirt is too low cut.  If my children and I can see a part of your anatomy heretofore known only in male plumbers, you need either different pants or a much longer shirt.

Tomorrow is knitting class for my children which means I get to go over to one of my dearest friends' houses to knit and chat and not necessarily in that order.

Oh, and one more thing.  Tomorrow is Emily's ultrasound.  Please continue your prayers.
