A priest in our diocese has gone missing. He is one year away from retirement and had traveled to his retirement house in Mexico. The house has been ransacked and they found some blood. It is not looking good. Please pray for this holy man.

One of my favorite moments in the day happens early in my day. Every morning, I walk into my son's room and open one side of the curtains. Too much light, and the day is ruined. Then I lay down next to him and wake him up gently. I usually hug and kiss him softly on the cheek. If it's cold, I'll ask him if I can go snuggle under the covers. He always acquiesces. He loves that he has made such a cozy place for his mother. In those 5 minutes we might spend together, all is right with the world.

Please check out my sidebar. I've added a new button. Click through and let them know what your thoughts are. The HHS is required to count and read each piece that comes through. We need to take a stand. We are still in America, right?

My son has many sensory issues. His sensory problems sometimes dominate our lives. He is a vestibular seeker. He likes hard, strong, BIG motions. Sitting down is accomplished by jumping onto the sofa and hitting the back of it hard. He likes to be high up; there are many times I've yelled at him climb down off the top of the monkey bars.
I joke that I'm taking our math book with us to Disney so that after a hard ride on a roller coaster we'll sit down and math. I'm sure he'd finish a page in 5 minutes as opposed to 30. The funny thing is when he's belted in his booster seat, he's fine. He used to be that way in his stroller too. I never had a problem with him trying to climb out of his stroller.
He also is very tactile. He likes to touch everything. I keep him away from places where there are a lot of fragile items. His hands just move on their own accord sometimes.
Loud sounds make him cringe and cover his ears. There was a fire drill when he was in preschool. The next day after the drill, the fire alarms went off with burnt popcorn. For years after, he carefully checked for fire alarms in each building he went into. However, loud music does not affect him at all. Music calms him down. His current love is Dancing with Myself.
My son is a contradiction. He's a sensory seeker and sensory defensive. Some days I want to throw the towel in, but I know I'm his advocate and his teacher and most of all his mother, who loves him right down to his toes.

1. I knit and finished a baby hat for Brother's ABA therapist. I've been having difficulty finishing projects of late. Actually, I've not had the desire to knit in a long time.
2. I went to 3 doctor's appointments this week. I've been neglecting my health since having children. I'm taking charge.
3. We had home cooked meals all week. Now, granted last night we had a potluck dinner with our homeschool group after stations of the cross, but we didn't spend any money for dinner.

Last year I participated in this with Jennifer over at S/V Mari Hal-O-Jen. She's hosting it again this year. You can choose a theme or just upload a picture each day. I'm probably going to just upload a picture each day, but maybe not. I want to learn (still) how to use everything on my camera. I'm a slow study. So, join us, won't you?

A friend said to me, "I'm pro-choice (to which I inwardly cringed until he finished his thought). Until the moment of conception."
