My two oldest are receiving First Holy Communion tomorrow with two of their homeschool friends at the 9am CST mass. I would really appreciate prayers. After mass, everyone will be headed here for a reception.

Box Method: a method of cleaning quickly where you put all the clutter away in boxes to be sorted through later. This can be dangerous because you could end up with several boxes after a few months. For pack rats (like me), it isn't easy to just throw the box away even if it hasn't been opened in 6 months.

Fourteen years ago, on a very cool, crisp fall day in Boston, we said our vows. The day was wonderful.
Our special plans for today? Well, dinner out, of course. But, with the children. No, it's not that we don't have any place to leave the children. It's because Brother would have such high anxiety that we have chosen to take the children with us. You see, Brother is going to receive First Holy Communion this Sunday with Sister. This, on top of his Gramma visiting is bringing enough anxiety to disrupt sleep. I can't add to that. It's just rotten timing.
Happy Anniversary to my dear, beleaguered husband!

Alice from Cottage Blessings
Mary Ellen from Tales from the Bonny Blue House
Charlotte from Waltzing Matilda
Oh, and then there's Jennifer from S/V Mari Hal-O-Jen (you gotta love her pictures!) and Meredith from Sweetness and Light. Oh, the list goes on and on. I've already cheated so I'll stop here.

This was going to be a self pity post. Wah, I'm not pregnant. Wah, my family doesn't understand and wants to give my crib away. Wah, wah, wah. Sigh. I was going to post that I was going to mentally prepare myself to not have any more children even though I desperately want more. I'm being greedy I keep telling myself.
Then, I read a prayer request by someone who is trying so hard to live God's life. She is so open to life and is expecting her eighth child, a boy. It's not been an easy pregnancy. I know that she's trying to live the best example of someone who is open to life. You know how it is, people say mean things without really thinking about it. They'll say, "What do you expect having so many children." It's mean. Plain and simple. People with two children have the same types of problems. This family, though is in need of some prayers and help. They're financially strapped. Seriously strapped. The-we're-about-to-lose-our-house-strapped. I want to help but don't know how. The only thing I can offer is prayer. And, gratitude. Gratitude that she has shown me the bigger picture.

This poll was taken by the Associated Press and Yahoo. I found it interesting that they were able to determine that Barack Obama is losing about 6 percentage points in the polls due to the race factor. It made me wonder though. How much is McCain losing due to the race factor?
It is my strong belief that racism runs both ways.

Today, I was a thermometer instead of a thermostat. I need to apologize to my kiddoes tomorrow. Sigh.

Four years ago, around this time, we received the official diagnosis of autism for Brother. This came the day after finding out I was pregnant with Pumpkin. I despaired of many things, one of which was whether Brother would ever be ready for any of his sacraments (those who know him IRL probably would be surprised but he has come a LONG way). Well, we are at that point. Brother, with Sister, will go to confession tomorrow. I debated having them do it together or not, but in the end, I knew he would feel better having his best
sisterfriend next to him. Please pray for my two sweet children.

Mark Bavis was a hockey player at my alma mater. I worked as the manager of the basketball team so I saw him in passing almost every day. We were not friends and not even acquaintances–we just saw enough of each other to say hi. He was on one of those planes that hit the World Trade Center. Here is a tribute with an interview with his identical twin brother:

Extra-large LLBean bag full of library books. Check.
List of books our library has of this month's Author Fiesta author. Check.

Start engine. Click, click, click.
Well, darn. I guess we're not headed to the library yet. Just when I think my days are ordered. God really likes to keep me on my toes, doesn't he? I think he knows that I like ordered days.
Ben, bless his heart, knows even less about cars than I do. So, I called a friend's son. The irony has not escaped me that this son's nickname on her blog is Carkiller. I am grateful for the help.
Hopefully, it's just the battery and I can get going by sometime tonight.
