to ask for prayers for my dear friend and her children. A 30 minute notice to leave is unpardonable. It forget to call is just outrageous. I won't go on. Please pray for this family during the deployment.

I've had good intentions to start in with all the good stuff for school this week. I've also had good intentions to start my exercise program. More good intentions to blog more regularly. But, life has intruded. I'm excusing myself for a few more days (maybe this weekend) because Pumpkin was in the hospital for the past 2 1/2 days with serious pneumonia. So, we're recuperating at home. Prayers for continued recovery would be appreciated.

Happy Birthday, my dear, sweet boy!
I can't stand the fact that he's turning 10. It's not that I don't want him to grow up, it's that it seems he's growing up too fast. I will forever have to use two digits to tell people his age. It's too much! Ben doesn't get it. It's not a big deal to him but it makes my heart ache.

Brother: When can I have my own computer?
Me: When you go to college.
Brother: Then how about a Blackberry?

should not have had Haagen Dazs ice cream after a wonderful, fun workout at the indoor rock climbing place.

I love the Olympics. Ever since I was a little girl, I've watched the Olympics. The only one I missed was the 1988 one in Seoul (I really wanted to see this one) because I was a freshman in college without a TV. Here are some of my thoughts:
- The athletes don't walk in in a nice orderly way. This bothers me and not just because I'm anal that way. I find that watching older opening cermonies, the athletes had such dignity. It's missing in this present day and age.
- There are too many commercial breaks. I think more so than before. And, what's up with all the Obama commercials? Yuck. I turn the channel during those.
- Michael Phelps is an awesome athlete. I love how he searches for his mother in the stands. She is so proud of her son. You can tell that is a very loving relationship. Just tonight I saw him give his sister the bouquet he received for winning the gold in…well, I can't remember.
- I always have found it difficult when USA goes against South Korea. Please don't flame me. Korea is my native land. Fortunately, I was able to root wholeheartedly for Park Tae Hwan. I just wish I could've seen that medal ceremony. I, once, sang the Korean national anthem during an international day assembly when I was in the 4th grade. To this day, I cringe thinking about it because I can't carry a tune to save my life.
- My son is handy to have around. He's got a computer for a brain so whenever I can't figure out the country of a particular person or team (because I refuse to wear my glasses unless I'm driving) he tells me. And, it's not because he's good at figuring out the abbreviations of the countries, it's because he's an expert at country flags. One of the many blessings of autism.
- I can't stand the suspense! I want to check results for all the events before watching so I will know whether to be cheering wildy or not. Isn't that just beside the point? Oh, well.
- I love all the great human interest stories in the Olympics.
So, in closing, (as my Irish priest put it) three cheers for the USA and one for South Korea.

Okay, so I'm extending my e-show. It closes at the end of the month, but if sales continue to be slow, I'll extend it again. Check it out!

I've been busily planning the school year that never ends. Well, it sort of does. We school year round because we take many small breaks throughout the year. It works for us very well because the kids don't get into the no school for 3 months rut which turns into meltdown city when we do start school (especially my autistic son). It can be wearying and makes planning a bit difficult because I don't have non-school day times to work on it.
I'd like to say that's why my blogging has been sporadic, but let's face it, it's always been sporadic. I am doing something though this year that's very unlike me. I'm ditching my plans for history and going with Serendipity's plans for American History. My children, after a visit to Gettysburg (and the great explanation of said location by my history buff husband), are fascinated by the history of this great nation. So, we're veering off on a year long rabbit trail of sorts. I hope to chronicle that here.

There’s just something wrong with 90 degree weather at 10pm.
I know I’m obssessed with the weather lately, but did you see how hot is it? I can’t stand it. When we leave the house for therapy at 9:30 and it’s already 90 degrees, it makes me grumpy. Sure, I know it’s Texas. I know it’s hot in the summer. However, this is not normal. I thought once the blahs of July were over, we’d be on our way, but I guess not.
Once again, I’m hoping a storm (Edouard) comes this way. Isn’t that awful? I mean people could lose their homes or at the very least money for repairs to their homes. It’s quite selfish. Sigh.
