• We are taking a road trip to Massachusetts this month to attend a wedding.  It’s a big undertaking and I can’t believe it’s almost here!  Here’s our itinerary:

    Day one:  drive to Texarkana.

Day two:  drive for as long as we can and hope to reach Charleston, WV.

Day three:  take side trip to Gettysburg so Ben can get his fix.  Drive to Lancaster, PA and then on to Hershey (have to get my fix).

Day four:  drive to Westfield, MA to visit a friend.

Day five:  drive into Norwood, MA to my sister-in-law’s house.

Day six:  drive into Boston for rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.  Plan on wandering city before rehearsal (maybe visit Boston University, our alma mater).  We were married at the chapel on the BU campus and I’d like the children to see it.

Day seven:  visit the USS Constitution early in the morning.  Get ready for the wedding.  Attend the wedding.  The older girls are in the wedding as flowers girls and Brother is an usher.  I bought Pumpkin a beautiful dress so she wouldn’t feel badly about not being part of the wedding party.

Day eight:  visit the duck pond made famous in Make Way for Ducklings Ben’s family.  My children have never been.  We may ride the swan boats.

Day nine:  Memorial Day parade in Norwood.  Ben will be marching with his nephew, my godson.  Then the Museum of Fine Arts.  They waive admission on this day so we’re taking advantage.

    Day ten:  New England Aquarium.

Day eleven:  Strawberry Banke.  My SIL told me there’s a bridge there that you can cross into Maine.  Brother will be beside himself with this.  I can’t wait to see how he does.

Day twelve:  Unplanned as of now.  We may do the Plymouth plantation or we may just spend time in Norwood with my SIL.

Day thirteen:  Falmouth, MA.  My MIL lives in this town and is a short walk from the beach.  My children are so used to warmer beaches that they’re going to be quite surprised at how cold it is here.

Day fourteen:  Drive to Long Island to visit Ben’s Aunt Vivian.  I love the drive.  We’ll drive into New London, CT and take the ferry to Orient Point, NY.  Then the drive to Centerport where Vivian lives.  It’s so beautiful!

Day fifteen:  Visit with some friends (I hope!).  Then drive to Parsippany, NJ to visit another friend.

Day sixteen:  Drive to the Washington, DC area to visit another aunt.  While here we’ll visit Ben’s Uncle David’s grave at Arlington.

Day seventeen:  Maybe Manassas, maybe the National Basilica.  I’m still working on the logistics of it all.  Manassas is a must because I want to meet up with someone.

Day eighteen:  Drive to Apex, NC and visit Maj Dave Taylor’s grave.  Then drive to Charleston to visit Maj. Ed Murphy’s grave.  We missed both their funerals and it has been difficult.  Ben and I both need to do this.  We’ll skip a lot of this trip to get down here if we have to.  Then drive to Atlanta.

Day nineteen:  Drive home.  Don’t know how far we’ll get.

    Day twenty:  Ditto.

    Day twenty-one:  Arrive at home.

Ambitious, huh?  If you’re along our route, I’d love to meet you.  Drop me a line.

  • I’m not a political person.  This election scares me though.  I fear for the future of this country.  I’m not too enamored with any of the potential candidates but Barack Obama really scares me.  I don’t believe he has respect for life at all.  If I’m wrong please point me in the right direction.  He’s not pro-life so I will not vote for him.  Who does that leave us with?  Sigh.

  • These are a scary thought to new knitters.  But, if a knitter wants to do some of the more fun stuff like socks, she has to learn how to use them.  Soooo, here’s my first attempt at making socks.  I’m sure I’ll have a bit of a ladder where the needles meet, but I think I’m doing a pretty good job.

Ugh, is why is my tabletop so dirty?  I should’ve wiped it down before taking this picture.  😉

  • April Showers will turn into May Flowers.  I’m planning on continuing my education in photography.  I’m going to experiment with various settings to see what I can do with my camera.  I’ve obviously not been using it well enough.  And, I received an awesome new lens so there’s more fun to be had.

This was taken from the same spot but with my new big time zoom lens.  Isn’t it awesome!

  • Look who’s celebrating the 9th anniversary of her 29th birthday.

  • Please pray for a family who lost a husband and father in Iraq.  My heart aches for them.

  • You have to love 2-going-on-3 year olds.  Mine just took a wound up yo-yo, lifted her arm up high, and dropped it behind her.  Then she yells, "Yay!  I did it!"

  • My good friend, Sue, tagged me for this meme.

    1. The rules of the game get posted on the beginning.

    2. Each player answers the questions about himself.

    3. At the end of the post, the player tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read their blog.

What I was doing ten years ago:

Moving from Virginia to Texas 6 months pregnant with Brother.

Five things on my To-Do list today:

    1. Take car to dealer

    2. Put folded laundry away

    3. Clean downstairs bathroom

    4. Work on vacation itinerary

    5. Keep playroom neat

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

    1. Give money to charity especially the church

    2. Buy a huge plot of land and get a small neighborhood set up with my friends complete with our own cows and chickens.

    3. Give money to my family

    4. Give money to some friends

    5. Buy books.  All the books I want.  Each and every one of them.  Then, I’d probably have to build a really big house to house all these great books.  I’d then have to hire a librarian to keep track of and organize my books and put them away after my children were done with them each day.  Oh, yeah.  That would be awesome!

    Three of my bad habits/qualities:

    1. I am a perfectionist

    2. I am a procrastinator

    3. I can be a lazy housekeeper

    Five places I’ve lived:

    1. Texas

    2. Boston

    3. Korea

    4. California

    5. North Carolina

    Five jobs I’ve had:

    1. Mother

    2. Secretary

    3. Boston University Men’s Basketball Team Manager

    5. Auto part delivery person

    Five books I’ve recently read:

  • Cheryl tagged me for this meme (a long time ago):

    Here are the rules:

    1. When tagged place the name and URL on your blog.
    2. Post rules on your blog.
    3. Write 7 non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
    4. Name 7 of your favorite blogs.
    5. Send an email/comment on their blog letting them know they have been tagged.

    1. I have this thing about the kitchen light switch.  It’s one of those that can be turned on from two sides of the kitchen.  I like to turn the switch up to turn the kitchen on from the living room.  It drives me crazy when it’s in the opposite position.  Now, mind you, this doesn’t bother me in the least in the upstairs hallway.  Go figure.
    2. I love pens but not the black and blue ones.  I’ll take a blue one, but I’d prefer the pinks, purples, greens, reds.  And, if it’s glittery all the better.  These are my favorites.  Pens that don’t write smoothly are a bane to my existence.
    3. I love to drive.  This will be tested when we drive from Texas to Massachusetts.  I’m hoping to meet some of my cyber-friends in real life.  I can’t wait.  If you’re on my route, maybe I can meet you too!
    4. Purple and yellow are my favorite colors.
    5. My high school reunion is in four three months.
    6. I’m turning 38 29 soon.
    7. I always wanted 8 children.  I like even numbers.  That’s why I think God needs to bless me with twins.  That way I won’t have an odd number of children.  😉

Lynn also tagged me for this meme.

ETA:  I tag anyone who is reading this and has not done this meme.  It’s been around a while; I’m just very late in doing it.
