Yesterday, I made an appointment for Honey at the Pediatric Clinic on post (most people call it a base, but in the Army, it’s called a post). I was so happy to have been able to make an appointment immediately instead of having to call back day after day for one.
Well, Ben came home and I discovered the reason: the Vice President was in town and attending a ceremony. Most of the post would be shut down. Ugh. I was in a panic because I only know one way to the clinic. Luckily, I remembered that my friend lives in a housing area close to the clinic. Whew! I found a way to the clinic. I left early to avoid the traffic jams at the gates (the main ones were closed). Well, it was not busy at all. The commanders of the soldiers not involved in the ceremony told them to come in later.
Things like this used to not bother me that much. Lately, though, it seems everything is magnified. It’s been a particularly difficult Lent for me and I have to admit to wanting this time over.
Oh, Honey’s appointment went well. She’s fine.
