At times during a First Friday mass followed by Benediction and Exposition, the man in charge of the altar servers snags Brother to help carry the boat while he, Mr. C, carries the censer.  The first time he did it, he cried afterwards from the release of stress.  He's done it a few times since and is more comfortable with it.

Mr. C has been trying to get Brother to become an altar server, but there has been resistance.  I found out it was because he was feeling nervous.  He's still worried but is ready.  He had training with an older altar server last Friday.  He will be serving tomorrow.

He helped with the boat again last Friday and was allowed to walk back down the aisle with the rest of the servers, priests, and deacon.  I couldn't finish singing the closing hymn.

I'm going to need tissues tomorrow.

How wonderful! I remember when my oldest first served mass, it was just last year. I was a nervous wreck. He (and I) are “old hats” at it now.
