The other ballet moms (and one dad) and I were discussing driving in Texas. Beyond the complaints of Texas drivers (really, I don't see what they're talking about), we started talking about driving on two lane roads. Texas is large. We have a lot of land between towns. Most of these towns are connected by two lane roads. If you get stuck behind a slow car, it can be very, very annoying. Texans have fixed this. If you there's a car behind you that's driving faster than you, you are supposed to drive on the shoulder (only if there is one) and let the faster car pass you. I learned this growing up in Houston when we traveled. And, one of native Texan ballet moms mentioned that she was taught that it was the polite thing to do.

Now that the current administration has passed the repeal of DADT, they are making noise about allowing women in combat. If they do, they better not lower the standards. If a woman wants to do a combat job (such as infantryman), then she better be able to do everything at the level of a man. Why? Because it's a matter of life and death. That woman and any of her fellow soldiers. Period.

Honey will have her First Reconciliation today at 9:30ish am Central Time. Please keep her in your prayers. For my non-Catholic readers, that's confession. She's understandably nervous. She said she didn't want to do it, but she knows that no one really wants to do it.

Honey's First Holy Communion will be on March 2, 2011 at 9am. We are very excited for her. I know she is and will be more so once tomorrow passes. She tried on her dress and veil. Her first question was how we'd do her hair.

Pumpkin will be starting piano lessons in February. The teacher did a little bit with her today. It was very cute. I think she'll do well. She always wants to play on the piano.

We went to the library today for the first time since August. We could not find a book so we'd been waiting to find it first. Well, we finally did. And, we went this afternoon while Brother was at gymnastics. I knew we had a fine, but wow, was I surprised. $32.05

I was disappointed that Patriots did not advance a couple of weekends ago, but am excited for my friend whose team is going to the Super Bowl. We were invited to watch the Patriots-Packers game in December with this family. They are great fans of football and most especially the Packers. My family looked quite lame as football fans.
Pumpkin was running around Sunday afternoon yelling "Boo Bears! Go Packers!". It was really funny.
